Reaction to the Sybase/Aleri buyout
My first thought was “why didn’t StreamBase buy them?” Were they not approached? Did Aleri take the deal that preserved the most jobs? Were they outbid?
My gut gives a different reason…

Streambase wouldn’t have bought Aleri – that’s just not in their business model (nor should it be at this stage – an acquisition would have had to have some cash component unless Aleri was completely broke).
In regards to jobs, my bet is that at least 50% of the Aleri positions are now gone.
